        Mahua Dey MD FAANS FCNS

        Neurosurgeon Scientist

Dr. Mahua Dey, MD, is a board-certified neurosurgeon and physician-scientist whose clinical and research work focuses on advancing the treatment of brain tumors through innovative immunotherapy and theranostic approaches. She completed her neurosurgery residency and fellowship training in neuro-oncology at the University of Chicago, where she developed a strong foundation in both complex brain tumor surgery and translational cancer research. Dr. Dey leads an NIH-, Department of Defense-, and externally funded laboratory investigating novel whole tumor cell–based personalized immunotherapeutic platforms for glioblastoma and other primary brain tumors. In addition to her scientific pursuits, she is pursuing a Master’s in Healthcare Management from Harvard University, which informs her commitment to improving systems of care, advancing equity, and integrating innovation into clinical practice. Dr. Dey’s work bridges surgery, science, and compassionate care—aiming to transform outcomes and bring hope to patients facing devastating brain diseases.

        My Philosophy

I am a neurosurgeon-scientist driven by a deep belief that science and compassion belong together. Every day, I have the privilege of caring for patients facing one of life’s most difficult diagnoses—brain cancer—and that experience fuels my work in the laboratory. My research focuses on understanding brain tumor biology and developing innovative, personalized therapies that bring new hope to patients and their families. I am passionate about bridging discovery and care, ensuring that advances in neuroscience and immunotherapy reach every patient, regardless of where they live or who they are. At the heart of my work is a simple goal: to combine surgical precision, scientific curiosity, and genuine empathy to improve lives and transform the future of brain cancer care.
